The Global Network Initiative (GNI) welcomes the opportunity to submit comments for the United States government’s second National Action Plan (NAP) on Responsible Business Conduct. The US is in the process of updating and revitalizing its NAP, demonstrating its commitment to upholding the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. GNI’s submission focuses on how the US government can encourage responsible business conduct across the ICT sector. We recommend the US use the NAP to pursue three key objectives: articulate a positive vision, lead by example, and build bridges with partners. Our submission also lays out specific, realistic actions that would help achieve these broader goals.
