GNI member Telia Company released detailed human rights impact assessment (HRIA) reports on their operations in Sweden and Lithuania.
Telia Company, headquartered in Stockholm, commissioned the reports from Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), an independent nonprofit business network and consultancy dedicated to sustainability.
BSR’s reports outline the company’s due diligence efforts on privacy and freedom of expression in addition to other public policy and human rights challenges, and they recommended “proactive engagement with the government on regulatory issues regarding freedom of expression and customer privacy.” (Read the full release here.)
BSR previously undertook human rights impact assessments in six of the company’s Eurasian markets, exploring avenues for a responsible divestment from the region, and Telia Company published BSR’s summary report of these findings in October 2016.
