The Global Network Initiative (GNI) is thrilled to announce that Dunstan Allison-Hope has joined GNI’s Academic constituency as an independent expert. Dunstan has more than 25 years of practical experience in just and sustainable business, including 20 years at Business For Social Responsibility (BSR) and five years at British Telecommunications (BT).

Dunstan co-facilitated the creation of GNI, the Responsible Business Alliance, and BSR’s Future of Reporting Working Group. Dunstan advises the world’s largest technology, media, and entertainment companies on how to apply the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and has undertaken more than 120 human rights assessments.

“There are many systemic human rights challenges in the technology industry that cannot be addressed by companies acting alone and instead require multi-stakeholder approaches. Having co-facilitated the process to establish the GNI back in 2006 – 2008 I am now delighted to be formally involved again as a new member,” Dunstan said regarding joining GNI.

Dunstan also has experience in the field of company disclosure, reporting, and transparency. Dunstan has written or advised on more than two dozen company sustainability reports and actively participated in both the Global Reporting Initiative and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board.

“Having Dunstan join GNI as an independent expert is a wonderful ‘full circle’ moment,” said GNI’s Executive Director Jason Pielemeier. “I and many others consider him among the founders of the tech and business and human rights community and I am incredibly excited about the insight and expertise he will bring to GNI.”
