The Global Network Initiative (GNI) is pleased to announce that Digitally Right Limited has joined GNI’s civil society constituency as a member.
Digitally Right is a Bangladesh-based organization dedicated to promoting a free and open digital space. It supports civil society, media, and businesses with critical knowledge and solutions to help them navigate the ever-changing information ecosystem.
“We have been closely engaged with GNI on various policy and advocacy issues for many years. Now, as a member of its civil society constituency, we hope to contribute further to the ongoing discussions. As an organization, we aim to learn more from GNI about the evolving policy landscape and how to address emerging challenges stemming from technology. We also want to bring ground perspectives from countries like Bangladesh to the table, which we believe can add valuable insights to this multistakeholder forum.”
– Miraj Chowdhury, Founder, Digitally Right Limited
Digitally Right promotes digital rights in Bangladesh, with much of its efforts dedicated to building a community of practice around it and supporting stakeholders with evidence based research and policy analysis. DRL also provides digital security training to at-risk journalists and activists and runs a disinformation research lab with a primary focus on platform accountability.
“We have been tracking and relying on the great work of Digitally Right for several years and are thrilled to have them join. Recent developments in Bangladesh have underscored the importance of digital rights and provided valuable lessons that extend well beyond South Asia.”
– Jason Pielemeier, Executive Director, GNI
