The Global Network Initiative (GNI) welcomes Dr. Eduardo Bertoni in his independent capacity as a member of the GNI academic constituency.
Dr. Bertoni was the founder of GNI member the Center for Studies on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information (CELE) and served on the GNI Board for several years until 2016. He was also the Organization of American States’ Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression and is currently the Representative of the Regional Office for South America of the InterAmerican Institute for Human Rights.
“I look forward to putting my knowledge of international law and relations to enhance protections for human rights in the digital environment and bringing a regional perspective to GNI at a time when new technologies are on the rise,” said Dr. Bertoni.
“GNI will greatly benefit from Dr. Bertoni’s long-standing familiarity with GNI and exceptional expertise in international human rights law, particularly in the area of freedom of expression and access to information,” said GNI Executive Director, Judith Lichtenberg.”
