The Global Network Initiative (GNI) is pleased to announce the addition of three new country profiles to our Country Legal Frameworks Resource (CLFR): Peru, Malawi, and Zimbabwe. The reports were compiled by GNI, with support from GNI NGO members Hiperderecho (Peru) and Paradigm Initiative (Zimbabwe), as well as former GNI Fellow Charles Kajoloweka (Malawi).

What is the GNI Country Legal Frameworks Resource?

The CLFR is a resource that documents government legal authorities to intercept communications, obtain access to communications data, or restrict the content of communications in more than 60 countries. Developed to enhance transparency around the domestic laws that apply to technology companies around the world, the CLFR allows the comparison of laws and policies across jurisdictions. The country-level reports are intended to help companies understand their exposure to legal demands, and support more informed dialogue between companies, users, and other stakeholders around responsible business conduct. They can also serve as a basis for advocacy with individual governments to improve human rights.
