The Global Network Initiative (GNI) is pleased to join the Christchurch Call Advisory Network, whose participating members were announced on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York in September 2019.
“GNI’s multistakeholder membership looks forward to continuing to engage with participating governments, companies, and other stakeholders to address extremist content online while protecting freedom of expression and privacy rights,” said GNI Executive Director Judith Lichtenberg.
At the outset of this initiative, GNI provided input to the governments of France and New Zealand consistent with the recommendations in GNI’s “Extremist Content in the ICT Sector” policy brief. As part of the formal Advisory Network, GNI will continue to contribute our unique multistakeholder perspectives and serve as a bridge to our diverse membership of information and technology communications companies, academics, investors and civil society organizations.
