As a part of its policy dialogue on Extremist Content and the ICT sector, the GNI will convene a roundtable discussion with representatives of the U.S. government, the United Nations, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, February 17, together with the American Society of International Law.
This event follows a similar event held in London in October of 2015, and a panel discussion that took place during our learning event at Stanford University in December of 2015. The dialogue aims to explore key questions and considerations to inform debate and foster collaboration on the issue of extremist content online and the ICT sector in a multi-stakeholder setting. The discussions will inform the GNI in developing a set of good practices and policy recommendations that can guide the efforts of governments and ICT companies as they respond to this issue in a way that protects and respects fundamental human rights, including freedom of expression and privacy.
